The 'Inspiration and Where Does It Take Me' Exhibition
December 10-19, 2004
Studiospace - Upstairs - Old Town Hall - Sydney St, Mackay QLD.
Opening...
The exhibition was opened by the honourable Tim Mulherin MP, Member for Mackay.
Guest Speaker
Cheryl Miller - Lifeline Mackay - Whitsunday.
Based on the theme of 'Inspiration and where does it take me'
Artists presented painting, poetry and photography that was diverse and connected by
a positive concept rather than style. This exhibition featured contributions
from students through to the higher profile artists in our community.
Adding to the exhibition was a communal piece entitled 'Inspiration Wall' where the public were encouraged to add, doodle, draw and document what they believe is their own source of inspiration.
Your Support...
... of this exhbition assisted the Grapevine Group to raise funds and
provide subsidy for local high school teachers to participate in Lifeline Mackay - Whitsunday's "Living Works" Suicide Intervention Program.
The Silent Auction...
... was held for the duration of the exhibition. The current bid was
displayed beside each piece. At the end of the exhibition the highest
bidders were contacted to collect and pay for sold artwork.
All artists donated a minimum of 25% of the reserve price of their sold artwork. If the bid exceed the reserve price, 100% of the additional funds assisted with fundraising towards intervention programs.
The opening night events included a successful masquarade parade and mask auction.
